Gods Good Timing!

A few words from Rev Neil Urquhart

Gods Good Timing!

Whether it’s scoring a goal, baking a cake or catching a train, timing is critical. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” (Romans 5:6 / NLT) I believe that Rev Jamie Milliken’s arrival, along with his darling Joanne, is also God’s perfect timing. Dreghorn & Springside Parish Church needed 4 years and Rev Tom Cant’s ministry to transition us from Rev Gary Horsburgh’s long & fruitful ministry into a new dawn.

We doubted if God would bring a new leader to us, but the period of time allowed us to realise how much we need God’s grace & guidance. It drove us more into prayer and God’s hands and deepened our gratitude that God should send someone of the calibre and experience of Jamie to join the DSPC Team.

We mourn Mr Cant’s retiral, truly grateful for his ‘above and beyond’ service. He has been such a star fervently ministering Word & Sacrament to us, bringing comfort to the bereaved and hope to the sick, leading by example and challenging us to look beyond navel and wall to take the Love & Good New of Jesus into our communities.

I’ve had such fun and blessing from shared services with Tom & yourselves. I was thrilled to facilitate last September’s Mission Vision Building conference, when 100+ of us shared dreams and imagined church in 5 - 10 years’ time. Now is the time to glow and grow in the life-transforming love of Christ, to enter a new and exciting phase of Christ’s Church in Dreghorn, Springside, Irvine, Kilmarnock and across the whole of Ayrshire & Scotland. I look forward to working alongside Jamie, Joanne & all at DSPC as we enter God’s perfect timing!

God’s very best to & through you all!

Neil (Urquhart) - Interim Moderator
